SEOUL, South Korea -- A news report says North Korea wants to co-host the 2018 Winter Olympics with South Korea.
Yonhap news agency reported Wednesday that North Korean International Olympic Committee member Chang Ung expressed hope for the divided Koreas to hold the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics together.
Pyeongchang is in northeast South Korea near the demilitarized zone that separates the two nations.
Chang was also quoted as saying military and political tensions between the Koreas should ease or else they may influence the Olympics.
The head of South Korea's main opposition party said earlier this week he may allow North Korea to co-host the 2018 Olympics.
