LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- Brazilian swimmer Fabiola Molina has been banned until April for doping, after testing positive for a stimulant.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport says the 36-year-old Molina received an increased six-month ban after swimming's world governing body, FINA, appealed, claiming that Brazilian authorities treated her too leniently.
Molina tested positive for Methylhexaneamine at trials last May for the 2011 World Championships.
Brazil's swimming federation imposed a two-month ban, which cleared her to compete at the Pan-American Games last October in Guadalajara, Mexico. Molina won a bronze medal in the 4x100-meter medley relay.
A CAS panel has ordered a six-month ban from December, less the two months she already served.
