China's Liao Hui banned for doping
BEIJING -- Olympic champion Liao Hui of China has been suspended by the International Weightlifting Federation for three years for doping.
Liao will be barred from competition until Sept. 30, 2014, the IWF said on its website. No other details were given, although the government's China Radio International said he had failed a urine test following the 2010 world weightlifting championships in Antalya, Turkey, where he set two world records.
He will be stripped of those records and miss next year's London Olympics.
Liao won the 69-kilogram category at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games during a dominant year for China in which its lifters won nine of the 45 available medals in the sport, including eight golds.
