Ukrainian weightlifter banned for doping
KIEV, Ukraine -- Ukrainian Olympic weightlifting silver medalist Olha Korobka has been banned for four years for doping and will miss the London Olympics.
Korobka was also stripped of the bronze medal she won at the world championships in Paris last November, where she tested positive for anabolic steroids, the International Weightlifting Federation's legal council, Monika Ungar, said Monday by phone from the organization's headquarters in Budapest.
The 26-year-old Korobka won silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the over 75 kilogram category and had been expected to challenge for a medal at London Olympics.
She has been suspended until November 2015.
Ukrainian media reported that Korobka has left the team's Kiev training camp, and her coach, Vasyl Kulak, has been fired.
