Satan's goal sends Slovakia into quarters; Sweden next
Updated: February 24, 2010, 2:33 AM ET
Miroslav Satan's third-period goal sent Slovakia past Norway 4-3 on Tuesday and into the quarterfinals.
Satan scored at 8:41 of the period after Norway rallied to even the score with two unanswered goals.
Marian Gaborik and Richard Zednik both had a goal and an assist for Slovakia.
Jaroslav Halak earned the win with 14 saves.
Not everything went Slovakia's way as forward Lubos Bartecko took a vicious hit at center ice in the first period, fell and bounced his head off the ice. He was taken off the ice on a stretcher, but the injury was not believed to be serious.
The game then got chippy at the end with Norway going after Slovakian captain Zdeno Chara.
And earlier in the third, Norwegian captain Tommy Jakobsen got in a shouting match on the bench with coach Roy Johansen, his teammate from the 1994 Norwegian Olympic team.
The road only gets tougher for Slovakia as they move on to face defending Olympic champion Sweden on Wednesday.
