| Avengers suspend Marinovich indefinitely Associated Press | |||

LOS ANGELES -- Former NFL quarterback Todd Marinovich was
suspended indefinitely Sunday by the Arena Football League's Los
Angeles Avengers after being ejected from the last two games.
Marinovich, 31, was suspended for "conduct detrimental to the
team."
The length of Marinovich's suspension is not yet known but he
will not be in uniform for Saturday's game against the Oklahoma
Wranglers.
"Todd's actions left me no choice but to suspend him," said
Avengers interim head coach Robert Lyles. "Losing his cool and
getting thrown out of games does not help us at all."
Marinovich missed all of the Avengers' offseason voluntary
workouts and the initial portion of training camp because of a drug
arrest. He pleaded no contest to a felony heroin possession charge
March 27 and agreed to enter a year-long treatment program,
avoiding a prison sentence.
Marinovich played at Southern California before the Los Angeles
Raiders made him a first-round selection in the 1991 NFL draft. His
brief NFL career was derailed by drug problems and the Raiders
released him before the 1993 season. | |
