What was Dale Petroskey thinking?

What the heck was Dale Petroskey of the Baseball Hall of Fame thinking when he canceled a 15th-anniversary celebration of "Bull Durham" because of anti-war views espoused by Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon?

Dale Petroskey
Attention Dale: There's no crying in baseball, and no politics either.
A. "Sure, Ty Cobb is enshrined in Cooperstown. But he was only a racist, womanizer alcoholic. It's not like he was a Democrat."

B. "While we're at it, I also don't agree with Kevin Costner's views on long, slow, deep, wet kisses that last three days."

C. "We attempted free speech in baseball before, but Marge Schott pretty much killed it for everyone."

D. "We thought it'd be better to focus on our Joseph McCarthy Senate and Baseball Retrospective."

E. "I believe the anti-war cries of Susan Sarandon are self-indulgent over-rated crap."

F. "And I'm not too thrilled about that Robbins fella wearing women's underwear in that movie, either."
