Greene to join ESPN2's NFL2Night as Studio Analyst

August 10, 2000

Retired NFL linebacker Kevin Greene, the league's third all-time leader in sacks, will join ESPN2 as a studio analyst on NFL 2Night, the network's five-nights-a-week NFL news and information program. Greene will be teamed with NFL 2Night host Mark Malone and rotating analysts Mike Golic, Merril Hoge, Marty Schottenheimer and Sean Salisbury. The 30-minute program is aired Tuesday through Saturday live, generally at 7:00 p.m. ET. Greene will make his NFL2 Night debut the week of August 15.

"Kevin was one of the most colorful personalities to ever play in the National Football League," said senior coordinating producer Bob Rauscher, who oversees ESPN's NFL studio shows. "He played with great intensity and tremendous passion for the game. Kevin brings those great qualities and more to ESPN."

Greene, 38, is a five-time NFL Pro Bowl selection who compiled some impressive numbers during his 15-year NFL career, including 160 sacks, 776 tackles and 26 fumble recoveries. He appeared in six conference championship games and one Super Bowl during his career.

Last season, Greene served as a color commentator on NFL Europe games. Following a stellar career as defensive end at South High School in Granite City, Illinois, Greene was a walk-on player at Auburn University and set numerous school records as a defensive end for the Tigers. Drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 1985, Greene went on to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers and again with Carolina.
