EIG generates 70 percent of page views among internet sports producers

ESPN Internet Group (EIG), part of Walt Disney Internet Group (NYSE:DIG), held tightly to its leadership position in the Internet sports category in July, according to recently released Media Metrix figures.

  • EIG accounted for 70% of all July page views generated by EIG, CNNSI.com, the SportsLine.com sites and Fox Sports Online. EIG generated more than 326 million page views that month, while its nearest competitor compiled just 83 million. [July Media Metrix]
  • ESPN.com, the flagship service of EIG, alone generated 56.9 minutes per unique user in July, with its nearest competitor generating just 27 minutes per unique user. [July Media Metrix]
  • ESPN.com generated 51.6 pages per unique user, while its nearest competitor generated just 22.3 pages per unique user. [July Media Metrix]
  • EIG accumulated 7.4 million unique users in July, more than its two nearest general Internet sports competitors COMBINED (6.7 million). [July Media Metrix]
