Gustavo Yacaman wins in Detroit
DETROIT -- Gustavo Yacaman took the lead on lap 26 and held on to win the Indy Lights race Saturday on Belle Isle.
It was Yacaman's first victory this year and second of his career. Carlos Munoz finished second and pole-winner Oliver Webb was third.
The race was cut from 45 to 40 laps because Peter Dempsey had an accident on lap 16. He was treated and released from the onsite medical facility.
Yacaman was one of three drivers to receive post-race penalties from the Freedom 100. He was docked 10 driver points and put on probation for the remainder of the 2012 season for failure to follow rules and engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct. Sebastian Saavedra was also placed on probation for the remainder of the season for the same rules violations.
