BK Racing owner Ron Devine said Truex was not cleared to race and is returning to Charlotte for further evaluation. J.J. Yeley will drive in Truex's place Sunday.

Truex, 22, hit the wall head-on while exiting a turn, and the front of his car was severely damaged. He was examined at the track's infield care center and transported to the hospital after complaining of a headache and collarbone pain.

CT scans of his head, neck, chest and abdomen were all negative.

Doctors checked Truex's pectoral muscle area as well as screws on his collarbone from a previous fracture, Devine said. Truex broke his collarbone in a motorcycle accident in 2013.

Devine added that Truex's shoulder and shoulder area would be fine.

Truex qualified 31st on Friday.
