Jeff Burton gets a new interim crew chief. Plus, we have more on Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Scott Speed.
Lambert, an engineer for the No. 31 team since 2008, will be working as a Sprint Cup crew chief for the first time.
"Luke will be the interim crew chief until further notice," RCR owner and president Richard Childress said in a statement announcing the change. "He has a strong grasp of the job requirements and an established line of communication with Jeff, so we have every confidence that he will do a great job."
In its announcement, RCR did not indicate why Berrier was being replaced, but said he remains under contract and that "his role with RCR will be determined in the near future." Berrier has been with RCR since 1994.
The No. 31 team is 25th in the Sprint Cup Series points standings through 19 races.
"I'm honored that Richard and Jeff have the confidence in me to lead the Cat Racing team," Lambert said. "This is a talented group of guys who know what it takes and has been successful so there's no reason to think we can't be successful moving forward."
