Brad Keselowski crashes, out for Iowa

Brad Keselowski was involved in an accident on Wednesday while testing at Road Atlanta, but the Penske Racing driver expects to be ready for Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Pocono Raceway.

Keselowski got out of the car under his own power, but was airlifted to an Atlanta-area hospital for further evaluation as a precautionary measure.

Keselowski said on Twitter that he was about to be released and X-rays on his swollen right foot were negative. He also received several abrasions, sending pictures of those and the foot on Twitter.

The driver will not participate in this weekend's Nationwide Series race at Iowa Speedway, Penske Racing said Thursday.

"Parker Kligerman will practice the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Challenger on Friday, while Sam Hornish Jr. will qualify and race the car on Saturday. Penske Racing will continue to evaluate Brad's condition," the statement read. "Further information will be provided as it becomes known."

Keselowski tweeted that engineers said he hit a wall not equipped with the SAFER barrier head-on at approximately 100 mph after the brakes failed.

"Guess I needed a reminder, COT or not, this racing (stuff) is still dangerous,'' Keselowski said on Twitter. "X-rays on feet r good.''

Keselowski is currently 21st in points, just 16 points outside the top 20. He's still in contention for a wild-card spot based on his win at Kansas, if he can move into the top 20 and ahead of two other drivers with one win -- David Ragan at 16th and Paul Menard at 14th.
