Marcos Ambrose close to new deal

DOVER, Del. -- Marcos Ambrose told ESPN.com on Sunday he is close to completing a new deal with Richard Petty Motorsports.

"We're all good,'' Ambrose said before the third race of the Chase at Dover International Speedway.

Sources said RPM soon will announce a new deal with Ford as well as the signing of Ambrose.

Ford Motorsports director Jamie Allison said two weeks ago at Chicagoland a deal with RPM was close.

Sources said there also have been talks with Aric Almirola about possibly returning to the No. 43.
