CONCORD, N.C. -- Charlotte Motor Speedway has replaced country singer Billy Currington as the pre-race act before next month's All-Star race.
Currington was charged Thursday with making terroristic threats and abuse of an elderly person. He was released from a Georgia jail after posting a $27,700 bond.
Each of the charges is a felony punishable by one to five years in prison.
Charlotte Motor Speedway president said Friday that double-platinum singer-songwriter Josh Turner will perform the pre-race concert before the May 18 race. Smith cited Currington's arrest for the change.
Currington's hits include "Pretty Good At Drinkin' Beer," "That's How Country Boys Roll" and "People Are Crazy."
