NORWALK, Ohio -- Spencer Massey raced to his fourth Top Fuel victory of the season Sunday to regain the points lead, beating Steve Torrence in the final of the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals.
Massey had a run of 3.916 seconds at 312.50 mph. Torrence finished in 3.894 seconds at 315.71.
"I knew the final round was going to be huge," Massey said. "Steve was running awesome all day. He's been running awesome all season, actually. I'm from Texas, he's from Texas, and we both drove Top Alcohol Dragsters in Division 4. The weather here was even hot like it is in Texas."
Mike Neff topped the Funny Car field, Vincent Nobile won the Pro Stock competition, and Andrew Hines took the Pro Stock Motorcycle event.
Neff raced to his second Funny Car win of the season, beating Tim Wilkerson in the final round. Neff powered his Ford Mustang to a 4.217 at 298.21.
In Pro Stock, Nobile powered his Dodge Avenger to 6.661 at 208.01 to edge Jason Line. Nobile won the $50,000 K&N Horsepower Challenge on Saturday, claimed $25,000 for the race win and another $25,000 for an NHRA Sweep Bonus.
In Pro Stock Motorcycle, three-time world champ Hines raced to his third win of the season on a Harley-Davidson. He finished at 6.929 at 193.43 in the final round against Hector Arana Jr. Hines, also the 2007 and 2009 Norwalk winner, has 28 career victories.
