KENT, Wash. -- Ron Capps topped Funny Car qualifying Friday in the NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways.
Blount: Brown can make history

Antron Brown could become the first driver to ever sweep the NHRA's three-race Western swing twice if he can win on Sunday. And he says winning is his sole focus, not the sweep. Story
Capps had a 4.119-second pass at 298.47 mph during the second qualifying session. He earned his first career victory at Pacific Raceways in 1995, and has won twice more at the track.
Top Fuel points leader Spencer Massey and Pro Stock leader Allen Johnson also led their divisions.
Massey had a run of 3.837 at 319.60, and Johnson finished at 6.554 at 211.66.
