Johnny Gray leads Funny Car pack

Before every event of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, ESPN analyst Mike Dunn will rank the top five drivers -- and riders on weekends the Pro Stock Motorcycle crew competes -- in each class. Up this week? The Toyota NHRA Summernationals in Englishtown, N.J.

Top Fuel

1) Shawn Langdon
2) Tony Schumacher
3) Doug Kalitta
4) Spencer Massey
5) Khalid alBalooshi

Schumacher makes it back into the rankings after coming out of his mini-slump with a strong performance in Topeka, Kan. AlBalooshi makes it into the rankings for the first time after improving performances on the track and in the driver's seat.

Funny Car

1) Johnny Gray
2) Robert Hight
3) Ron Capps
4) John Force
5) Jack Beckman

Team Force made a huge turnaround in Topeka and moved Hight and Force into the rankings. This class is still the hardest to predict, with at least 10 cars having a very good shot at winning any time they pull into the gate.

Pro Stock

1) Jeg Coughlin
2) Mike Edwards
3) Allen Johnson
4) Greg Anderson
5) Jason Line

Based on their performance in Topeka, Anderson and Line shouldn't even be in the rankings. But with eight wins at this week's track between them, including seven straight from 2002 to '08 and Anderson winning last year and Line holding the track E.T. record, you can't count them out.

Pro Stock Motorcycle

1) Hector Arana Jr.
2) Scotty Pollacheck
3) Michael Ray
4) LE Tonglet
5) Eddie Krawiec

The wild card will be the Harleys. With a month off for engine development, it will be interesting to see how they run. Andrew Hines had the better bike in Houston, but I put Krawiec in the rankings because he is the defending champion and this is his hometown track.
