Tony Schumacher back in charge

Before every event of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, ESPN analyst Mike Dunn will rank the top five drivers -- and riders on weekends the Pro Stock Motorcycle crew competes -- in each class. Up this week? The Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio.

Top Fuel

1. Tony Schumacher
2. Spencer Massey
3. Doug Kalitta
4. Shawn Langdon
5. Clay Millican

Schumacher moves into first not only because he won in Joliet, Ill., but also because the team showed it is able to run the big numbers again. Antron Brown looked good in eliminations, but he needs another good outing to make it back in the rankings.

Funny Car

1. John Force
2. Matt Hagan
3. Ron Capps
4. Tim Wilkerson
5. Bob Tasca

I tried to come up with a reason not to put John Force No. 1, but his numbers are just too good. Add in the fact that his crew chief, Mike Neff, is going for his third straight Norwalk win (he won in 2011-12 as a driver/crew chief ) and it would be hard not to put Force at the top.

Pro Stock

1. Jeg Coughlin
2. Mike Edwards
3. Vincent Nobile
4. Allen Johnson
5. Shane Gray

We know Coughlin can drive, but he had a dominant car in Joliet, and when you put the two together he is almost unbeatable. Nobile makes it to the rankings solely on the fact that he has never lost in Norwalk in the two years he has raced here.

Pro Stock Motorcycle

1. Michael Ray
2. Matt Smith
3. Hector Arana
4. Hector Arana Jr.
5. Adam Arana

For motorcycles, I took the best performances from the past three events and this is what I got: a lot of Aranas in the rankings! John Hall and Scotty Pollacheck have the power to be on, but we seem to have a lot of mechanical issues with the bikes so far this year.
