Tim Wilkerson a tough foe in Seattle
Before every event of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, ESPN analyst Mike Dunn will rank the top five drivers -- and riders on weekends the Pro Stock Motorcycle crew competes -- in each class. Up this week? The O'Reilly Auto Parts Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Wash.
1. Shawn Langdon
2. Doug Kalitta
3. Spencer Massey
4. Morgan Lucas
5. Antron Brown
Even though Shawn did not look great in qualifying in Sonoma, he had a great car during eliminations, running low e.t. of every round. Morgan is still hit-and-miss on his runs, but he is starting to hit it more often than not. I like his chances.
1. Tim Wilkerson
2. Ron Capps
3. Robert Hight
4. John Force
5. Courtney Force
I'm going out on a limb here with Tim. Although he has had a good car this year, the numbers aren't there to put him No. 1, unless you look at his Seattle numbers. He won three straight years (2009-2011), and last year, when he was beaten in the second round, he had the second-quickest time -- only he was racing Capps, who was low of that round. Wilk really knows how to run in Seattle!
1. Allen Johnson
2. Mike Edwards
3. Vincent Nobile
4. Shane Gray
5. Jeg Coughlin
Same five as last week, only Vincent moves up after his win in Sonoma. He still is not making great runs, but he has been making better runs the past couple of races, and when the car is close the kid will get you some wins with his driving!
