Brandon Jacobs commits to Tigers

One of the nation's top junior college running backs, 257-pound Brandon Jacobs of Napoleonville-Assumption, La/Coffeyville CC, Kan., has committed to the Auburn Tigers over offers from LSU, Washington, Nebraska and TCU.

Jacobs originally signed with the Tigers in Class 2001 after rushing for 3032 yards and 38 touchdowns as a prep. He ran for 927 yards and 13 touchdowns last season at Coffeyville.

Offensive lineman Thomas Eckers of West Point, Miss., committed to Mississippi. Recently chosing the Rebels was Top 150 defensive lineman Sean Merrill of D'Iberville, Miss., over LSU, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina and Arkansas, among many others.

Mississippi State has a pledge from defensive lineman Avery Hannibal of LaGrange-Troup County, Ga., over offers from Troy State and Central Florida. The Bulldogs recently added commintments from offensive lineman Brian Anderson of Butler-Patrician Academy, Ala., and linebacker Quinton McCrary of Columbus, Miss. McCrary drew offers from Florida, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, Southern Mississippi, Memphis and West Virginia, among others.

Linebacker Danny Verdun of Thomson, Ga., picked Georgia over Auburn and Florida.

Kentucky added receiver/defensive back Leroy Wilson of Bowling Green-Warren Central, Kty., over interest from Louisville, Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee.

Virginia Tech has pledged defensive back Roland Minor of Washington, DC-H.D. Woodson, over offers from Penn State and Temple, plus interest from Virginia and Maryland.

Central Florida has a pledge from defensive lineman Freddie Saint Preux of Brooklyn-Midwood, NY/Milford Prep, Conn/Dodge City CC, Kan., who orginally signed with UCF as a prep.

The Iowa State Cyclones have a pledge from offensive lineman Bastian Schober of Nuremberg, Germany/Granbury, Tex.

Washington has a pledge from running back Durrell Moss of Orange, Cal., over offers from Colorado State and UNLV. He rushed for 1743 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior.

The USC Trojans have a pledge from running back Jody Adewale of Los Angeles-Roosevelt, Cal. He rushed for 1660 yards and 25 touchdowns as a junior.

Stanford pledged tight end Evan Moore of Brea/Brea-Olinda, Cal., over USC, UCLA and interest from Oregon. He is also a forward in basketball.
