Top RB selects Tigers

LSU has added Super Prospect running back Shawn Jordan of El Paso-Riverside, Tex., over Oklahoma State, UCLA and Arizona State.

Mississippi added touted linebacker Marquis McBeath of Moss Point, Miss., over LSU, Auburn and Nebraska; linebacker Patrick Willis of Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central, Tenn., over interest from Memphis and Mississippi State; and defensive lineman/tight end Robert Hough of Jackson-Provine, Miss.

The early football signing period for mid-year qualifiers is Dec. 18-Jan 15. The spring period is Feb. 5-Apr. 1. Search the list of Prospects/Commitments/Signings/By Conference.

Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, USC, Georgia, Michigan, Miami-Florida, South Carolina, Notre Dame and Florida head the Early Top Classes.

Big Ten:
The Wisconsin Badgers pledged tight end/defensive lineman Kurt Ware of Spring-Klein Oak, Tex., over interest from Arizona State, Michigan State and Florida.

Quarterback/athlete Bill Foran of Dallas-Highland, Tex., committed to the Purdue Boilermakers. He also drew interest from Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Illinois.

Touted defensive lineman Malcolm Wooldridge of Boca Raton, Fla/Hargrave MA, Va/USC/Harper CC, Ill., committed to Indiana.

Defensive back William (Greg) Cooper of Flint-Northern, Mich., who originally signed with Michigan as a Top 150 prospect in Class 2002, committed to Michigan State. The Spartans recently gained offensive lineman John Masters of Carmel, Ind.

Big 12:
Iowa State pledged linebacker/defensive back Ron Prelow of Tampa-Jefferson, Fla. Defensive lineman/tight end Nick Davidson of Hurst-Bell, Tex., has denied a report by The Dallas Morning News of a commitment to the Cyclones.

Defensive lineman Tyler Yenzer of Midland, Tex., and offensive lineman Josh Morris of Midland, Tex., picked Texas Tech.

North Carolina has a commitment from defensive back Kareen Taylor of Hopewell, Va/Fork Union MA, Va., and signed both linebacker Melik Brown of Camden-Wilson, NJ/Hargrave MA, Va., and running back Ronnie McGill of Clover, SC. The Heels recently gained commitments from defensive lineman Donnell Livingston of Sarasota, Fla., over Florida State, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina State and Maryland; and linebackers Larry Edwards of Tampa-Wharton, Fla., over interest from LSU, Nebraska, Florida and Iowa; and Fred Sparkman of Columbia-Central, Tenn., over Michigan and South Carolina. Linebacker Clint Session of Pompano Beach-Ely, Fla., who decommitted from Pittsburgh and indicated he was headed for North Carolina, no longer has interest in the Heels.

Clemson added offensive lineman Mario Henderson of Lehigh, Fla; receiver Chris Jefferson of Morgantown-Freedom, NC., over Wake Forest; and offensive lineman Chris Capote of Miami-Killian, Fla.

Duke gained defensive back Jeramy Edwards of Jackson-Jackson Memorial, NJ., over interest from Purdue, Maryland and Indiana.

Vanderbilt has verbals from linebacker Curtis Gatewood of Memphis-White Station, Tenn., and tight end Nick Brigham of Batesburg-Leesville, SC.

TCU added defensive back David Roach of Abiline, Tex.

Running back Harvey (Scooter) McDougle of East Cleveland-Shaw, Ohio, picked Toledo over interest from Iowa, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Indiana, Minnesota and Virginia.

Central Florida has running back Evandall Williams of Havana-Northside, Fla., and receiver Brooks Turner of Deerfield Beach, Fla.

SMU gained receiver Reynaldo Pellerin of Spring-Westfield, Tex; linebacker Avery Cleveland of Austin-LBJ, Tex., over Colorado; and defensive back Joe Sturdivant of Lilburn-Parkview, Ga., over Navy and Georgia Tech.

Hawaii signed defensive lineman Reggie Maldonado of Saddleback CC, Cal. The Warriors recently gained a pledge from quarterback Jack Rolovich of Novato-San Marin, Cal.

Sun Belt:
Arkansas State has added six commitments, including defensive back Khayyam Burns of Fort Smith-Northside, Ark.

Mountain West:
San Diego State added receiver Ramal Porter of Van Nuys-Birmingham, Cal; and running back/linebacker Brandon Bornes of Vista-Rancho Buena Vista, Cal.

Tight end Jordan Adams of Arlington-Lamar, Tex., picked New Mexico. The Lobos recently gained receiver Jonathan Harrell of Everman, Tex.

Defensive lineman/linebacker Aaron Whittington of St. Louis-Hazelwood East, Mo., has verballed to UCLA.

Tight end Eddie Whitaker of Reseda, Cal/Los Angeles Valley CC, Cal., picked Oregon over interest from Nebraska and Maryland.

Receiver/defensive back Rudy Burgess of Edwards AFB-Desert, Cal., gave a soft commitment to Washington State over Arizona State, Washington, Oregon, Oregon State and Fresno State.

Arizona pledged offensive linemen John Mahaffey of Tyler-Lee, Tex; defensive linemen Cedric Cofer of DeSoto, Tex; linebacker Marquell Stinson of Fresno CC, Cal; plus offensive linemen Robert Gustavis of Torrance-North Torrance, Cal., over Oregon State and California; and Peter Graniello of El Paso-Coronado, Tex., over UTEP and New Mexico State.
