UMass gains prospect; Ole Miss, OSU players to transfer

UMass has pledged Class 2003 guard/forward Maurice Maxwell of Philadelphia-Lutheran Christian, Pa.

Sophomore guard/forward Floyd North of San Diego-University, Cal., is transfering from Oregon State to the University of San Diego. He started 21 of 28 games last season for the Beavers.

Freshman guard Trey Pearson of South Fulton, Tenn., has decided to transfer from Mississippi. He started 24 of 29 games last season.

Bradley has a pledge from Class 2004 guard Jeremy Crouch of Pekin, Ill., over interest from Wisconsin, Northwestern and Northern Illinois.

Wichita State has added pledges from two Class 2003 prospects in guard P.J. Couisnard of Houston-Yates, Tex; and forward Calvin Walls of Minneapolis-Patrick Henry, Minn.

Class 2003 guard Ed Spence of Butler County CC, Kan., pledged to UNC-Wilmington.

LeBron James scored 27 points in leading the East over the West, 122-107, in the 26th annual McDonald's All-American high school basketball game in Cleveland, Ohio. McDonald's All-American Game stories/Rosters for 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000.

Class 2003:


Over 760 Class 2003 prospects have made commitments or signed scholarship papers. Signings and commitments by conferences. The early period ran Nov. 13-20 and the late period is Apr. 16-May 15.

Arizona, Duke, Maryland, Illinois and Kansas lead the Early 2003 Top Classes.

Remaining uncommitted Top 100 Prospects (4): C-James Lang (decomitted Louisville/possible NBA); C-Darryl Watkins; F-Linas Kleiza; G/F-LeBron James (probable NBA).
