Livingston decides on Duke

By Bill Hodge

In one of the major recruiting triumphs of Class 2004, Top 100 prospect Shaun Livingston of Peoria-Central, Ill., has chosen Duke and coach Mike Krzyzewski. Considered the nation's top point guard, Livingston picked the Blue Devils over Illinois and Arizona.

"I feel Coach K and Duke are the best fit for me," said Livingston. "It's the best decision I could make for me and my life both in and beyond basketball. I think he can teach me the things that will help in the NBA preparation. The style Duke runs is something that I've really looked at and I think that it will get me ready the fastest. The Big Ten is more physical and slowed down so I felt that I needed to go to a school where I could flourish in my game."

Livingston joins two other Top 100 commitments for Duke in guard DeMarcus Nelson of Sacramento-Sheldon, Cal., and forward David McClure of Stamford-Trinity Catholic, Conn.

Eighty-eight prospects on the early Class 2004 Top 100 have already made commitments. List of remaining Top 100 Prospects.

Texas, Indiana and Louisville lead the early 2004 Top Classes. Florida State led the 2003 Top Classes.
