Former McDonald's All-American leaves Duke
By Bill Hodge
Sophomore reserve center/forward Michael Thompson of Joliet-Providence Catholic, Ill., will transfer from Duke.
"Michael has decided to pursue opportunities at another school," said Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "He is leaving Duke in good academic standing and we wish him well in the future."
The former McDonald's All-American was concerned with a lack of playing time after seeing limited action in three of four games this season, averaging 2.3 points and 0.3 rebounds in 11 total minutes. Thompson averaged 1.5 points and 0.5 rebounds in 16 games last year as a true freshman.
