Trojans, Wolverines land top offensive linemen

The top-ranked USC Trojans will become even larger by pledging one of the nation's top junior college offensive linemen in Taitusi Lutui of Mesa, Ariz/Mesa CC, Ariz/Snow CC, Utah.

Lutui, a 350-pounder, picked USC over Nebraska, BYU, Boise State, Kansas State and Utah.

Top 150 offensive lineman Brett Gallimore of Kansas City-Park Hill South, Mo., has chosen the Michigan Wolverines over more than 30 other offers, including Florida State, Ohio State, Nebraska, Purdue and Iowa. See ESPN Chat.

Boston College has a commitment from defensive back/receiver Marquise Liverpool of Ramsey-Don Bosco Prep, NJ., over Virginia, Iowa, Southern California, Tennessee and Rutgrs. The Eagles recently gained defensive lineman B.J. Raji of Washington Township-Westwood, NJ., over Wisconsin and Rutgers.

Washington gained a commitment from defensive lineman Erick Lobos of Venice, Cal., over Washington State, San Diego State, Utah, San Jose State and Arizona.

Arizona signed defensive back Kiel McDonald of Colorado Springs-Doherty, Colo/Sacramento City College, Cal. The Wildcats recently gained defensive back Antoine Cason of Los Alamitos, Cal., over Oregon State; and linebacker James Alford of Metairie-East Jefferson, La., who signed with West Virginia in Class 2003, but left before the season started. He had decommitted from Colorado before picking the Mountaineers.

Kentucky added defensive lineman Nii Adjei Oninku of Clayton-Northmont, Ohio. The Wildcats recently gained offensive lineman Micah Jones of Mayfield, Kty., over Tennessee, Michigan, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas and Georgia, among others.

Western Michigan has quarterback Alex Engram of Warren-Harding, Ohio.

Bowling Green pledged defensive lineman/tight end Diyral Briggs of Cincinnati-Mt. Healthy, Ohio.

Tulsa has a commitment from offensive lineman Walter Boyd of Shawnee, Okla., who had earlier chosen Oklahoma State. The Golden Hurricane recently gained receiver Damahco Ousley of Tulsa-Washington, Okla., over Missouri, Colorado, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M; and signed both defensive lineman Charles Walker of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M; and offensive lineman Jeff Bryant of Citrus CC, Cal.

Utah has pledged running back Raynold Stowers of Honolulu-Iolani, Hawaii; and receiver Gerold Rodriguez of Venice, Cal.

LSU leads the 2004 Top Recruiting Classes. Other top programs making an early charge are Texas, Southern California, Miami-Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia and Maryland.
