An inside look at telemetry

compaq in the field
Ralf Schumacher must like what he's seeing on the Compaq screen while reviewing some telemetry reports.

'Telemetry' is a word often used in the media to describe the data that teams take from their cars whilst they are out on the circuit. The BMW WilliamsF1 Team engineers call it Data Acquisition and WilliamsF1 has written and developed its own software over several years.

The data you see here is a demonstration of our state-of-the-art Windows-based data acquisition and analysis software. Each coloured line is a separate measurement (we call them channels) and here you can see some of the most important channels such as speed and engine revs. This is exactly the kind of information that Ralf and Juan Pablo see whilst sitting in the cockpit of their car during a qualifying session.

Telemetry: Magny-Cours |Nurburgring | Montreal | Monte Carlo | Austria | Barcelona | Imola | Interlagos | Sepang | Melbourne
