Junqueira A fascinating story came to light while researching a recently-published book I co-wrote about Honda's successful CART engine program. It seems that Newman/Haas Racing came very close to signing as Honda's works team for 1996 and beyond, only for the deal to be scuppered at the eleventh hour because Carl Haas refused to leave adequate space on the car for a Honda logo. Honda instead joined forces with Chip Ganassi racing and the rest, as they say, is history.
