Check out what some of this year's Indy 500 drivers had to say about our Question of the Day.
What kind of effect can the weather have on the race?
Billy Boat
Starting Position: 23
"The weather can play a huge factor if you get different weather than at practice. At practice last Wednesday, it was windy and cool. What happens when you get a hot day, it can change how the race car reacts. If it rains, that's not good for anybody."

"We've had every bit of weather during this month, so ... We've been running in cold weather, hot weather, so the engineers know how to set the cars up for the conditions and which way the cars going to go and then you have six or seven pit stops to make it better. So it's not a big issue if you take off in your first green flag laps and the cars off, as long as you don't come in under green and go down a lap then you're fine."

Robbie Buhl
Starting Position: 2
"Last year, we were running second and then when we went back green with 40 laps to go, our strategy was simple to get to the lead, and I spun trying to do it. We won't wait to do anything at that point. We are going to do anything to win. I feel confident with what we want to do with our car in regards to what the weather is doing. We have run the G-Force chassis for three years. Hopefully, our knowledge base will allow us to keep it in the window we want. That's part of the game. You never know what it's going to do. That's the fun, that's the challenge."

Shigeaki Hattori
Starting Position: 27
"We don't want rain. Cloudy's OK, but we don't want rain."
|
|
Bruno Junqueira
Starting Position: 1
"The weather's something that you cannot change. We'll have to wait (and see)."

|
Felipe Giaffone
Starting Position: 4
"Whatever the weather is, it is going to be the same for everybody. But it is going to be a big job for the team to pick the right setup. That is why I am confident with this guy here (chief mechanic Tom Vasi). He knows his way around, and he is good at guessing the setup for the conditions. That's why I feel we'll be in good shape."

Richie Hearn
Starting Position: 22
"I'm not concerned. It's the same for everybody. If it rains, we'll do it on Monday. And if not, we'll do the best we can."

|
Raul Boesel
Starting Position: 3
"It'll be the same for everybody. Looks like maybe a little bit of rain in the morning. I just hope we can put the race on."

Jimmy Vasser
Starting Position: 19
"Everyday the weather affects track conditions. The wind's always a factor, especially with these cars that are so temperamental. ... And heat -- track temperature if it's really hot and sunny, it becomes slippery. So we'll have to wait and see what the weather's going to be."
