Schumacher still on a roll

POMONA, Calif. -- Tony Schumacher was the fastest Top Fuel driver Friday in qualifying for the NHRA Finals at Pomona Raceway.

Schumacher, who has won three of the last six races, covered a quarter-mile in 4.484 seconds, going 331.20 mph.

John Force, Bruce Allen and Geno Scali led in their divisions.

Force continued atop Funny Car off his 4.771 at 321.65 of Thursday. Allen set the pace in Pro Stock, clocking a 6.773 at 203.25 Friday.

Scali clocked a track-record performance Friday of 7.108 at 187.70 in Pro Stock Bike. He needs only to qualify to win his first title.

Qualifying continues Saturday with final eliminations set for Sunday.
