Last race: Tony Stewart chased down Ryan Newman over the final stretch to win the UAW-GM Quality 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. It was just the second victory of the season for the defending Winston Cup champion.

Drivers to Watch
Check out a short list of drivers to keep an eye on this weekend at Martinsville.

Last year: Kurt Busch became the 11th different winner in 11 races at Martinsville by taking the checkered flag at the Old Dominion 500. Busch won from the 36th starting position, the farthest back in the field to win in track history.

Fast facts: Matt Kenseth finished eighth at Lowe's and increased his lead in the championship standings to 267 over Kevin Harvick with five races left. He had lost 177 points the previous two weeks. ... Five polesitters have won in the race's 46-year history, most recently Ernie Irvan in 1993. ... Ricky Rudd won in 1998, setting a Winston Cup record for consecutive seasons with at least one victory at 16.

Last race: Greg Biffle began an 800-mile day by winning the rain-postponed Little Trees 300 at Lowe's Motor Speedway with the season's largest margin of victory, 12.628 seconds. The race was postponed one day because of rain, causing it to start eight hours before the Winston Cup race.

Last year: A day after rain delayed the Sam's Town 250, Scott Wimmer won the race at Memphis after polesitter Greg Biffle crashed on lap 203.

Fast facts: David Green has a 36-point advantage over Brian Vickers in the standings with five races remaining. ... Chevrolets have dominated the first four Busch races at Memphis, taking 15 of 20 top-five finishing positions.

Last race: Brendan Gaughan came from the back of the pack and won the Silverado 350 at Texas Motor Speedway, becoming the first truck driver to win four straight races at the same track.

Last year: Inaugural race.

Fast facts: This season marks the first time Martinsville Speedway has hosted two races. Dennis Setzer has won the last two events at the track, including the Advance Auto Parts 250 on April 12. ... Gaughan has six wins this season and a 30-point over Travis Kvapil in the standings with three races left. ... Kvapil recorded his 18th straight top 10 finish at Texas to match the record set by Ron Hornaday Jr. in 1996.

Next race: Chevy Silverado 150, Oct. 31, Avondale, Ariz.

CART
Last race: Paul Tracy dominated the Mexican Grand Prix from the pole before a CART-record crowd of 221,011 and closed in on his first CART championship. With a 226-197 lead over Bruno Junqueira, Tracy needs just a win or second-place finish in either of the last two races of the season to win the championship in his 13th year on the circuit.
Next race: Lexmark Indy 300, Oct. 26, Surfers Paradise, Australia.

Formula One
Last race: Michael Schumacher won a record sixth Formula One title by finishing eighth at the Japanese Grand Prix and holding off Kimi Raikkonen for the championship. Schumacher got strong support from Ferrari teammate Rubens Barrichello, who won the season-ending race ahead of Raikkonen.

Indy Racing League
Last race: A terrifying crash that left Kenny Brack badly injured ended the season-finale Chevy 500 five laps early, sending Gil de Ferran to victory lane in his last career start and giving runner-up Scott Dixon the series championship. Dixon gave Chip Ganassi his first IRL championship after four titles in the rival CART series.

NHRA
Last event: Larry Dixon clinched his second straight Top Fuel championship when Doug Kalitta lost in the second round and Greg Anderson secured the Pro Stock title during the O'Reilly Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex. John Force earned his 109th career Funny Car win while Kenny Bernstein took Top Fuel.
Next event: ACDelco Nationals, Oct. 26, Las Vegas.
