FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) -- Edson Buddle scored in the final minute of
overtime as the Columbus Crew defeated the New England Revolution
2-1 Wednesday night.
Columbus (4-5-2) handed New England its third consecutive loss.
New England's Steve Ralston scored in the 11th minute,
converting a pass from Diego Serna.
Columbus tied the game in the 20th minute, when Chad McCarty
converted a direct kick by Eric Denton. McCarty's goal was his
first since September 1999.
New England (3-7-1) kept pressure on Columbus in the second
half, but failed to beat goalkeeper Jon Busche, making just his
second start of the season. Ralston had corner kicks in the 78th,
81st and 89th minutes, but failed to convert.
New England goalkeeper Adin Brown, making his first start of the
season, made two strong saves in the second half, stopping Dante
Washington in the 54th minute and Brian West in stoppage time.
In the overtime, New England had three chances with a corner
kicks by Kamler and Ralston and a near breakaway by Serna.
