Johnson's golden goal stuns United

WASHINGTON (AP) _ Edward Johnson scored in the sixth minute of overtime to give the Dallas Burn a 4-3 victory over D.C. on Thursday night, eliminating United from MLS playoff contention.

The win snapped a five-game losing streak for Dallas (12-9-7).

United (9-14-5), in last place in the division most of the season, needed a victory over the Burn and a combination of losses or ties from other teams this weekend to have a shot at the fourth and final Eastern playoff berth.

United tied the game on a goal by Ali Curtis during injury time, forcing the overtime.

The Burn scored in the 34th minute when a handball by United defender Brian Namoff on a Dallas corner kick set up Jorge Rodriguez's penalty kick goal.

Bobby Convey tied it in the 48th minute with his fifth goal of the season and D.C. took its only lead in the 65th minute on Henry Zambrano's first goal of the season.

Antonio Martinez scored in the 74th minute and Bobby Rhine added another goal in the 80th to give Dallas a 3-2 lead.
