  RECAP | BOX SCORE

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Jeff Agoos scored the winning goal as D.C. United beat the New York/NewJersey MetroStars 2-1 in a shootout Saturday night and extended their unbeaten streak to a team-record 10 straight.

Moreno's 42nd-minute goal, his fifth in the eight games, put United ahead 1-0. Richie Williams and Ben Olsen assisted on Moreno's 10th goal of the season. He has been involved in 10 of the past 11 goals for United in a five-game span.

Peter Villegas tied it in the 48th minute, getting his third goal of the season off assists by Ramiro Corrales and Eduardo Hurtado.

Jaime Moreno and Agoos connected in the shootout for United (22-7), which has the best record in the league and is 17-1 against conference opponents.

Brian Kelly scored in the shootout for the MetroStars (6-23), who have lost 12 of 13 and 18 of 20. In their previous game, the MetroStars beat Columbus 2-1 to stop a 12-game losing streak.

D.C.'s Roy Lassiter, who has 17 goals this season, had a goal disallowed when he was called offsides with just over 10 minutes remaining.

United already has clinched the Eastern Conference title and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
