| KIEV -- Dynamo Kiev, last season's European Cup semifinalists, suffered a shocking 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Maribor Teatanic in their opening Champions League group A match on Tuesday.
Ante Simudza scored the 74th minute winner when he went one-on-one with Dynamo keeper Olexander Shovkovsky and beat him with a low shot from close range.
Second-half substitute Oleg Venglinsky missed an excellent chance for a late equalizer with a point-blank header.
