Moldovan latest to coach Dinamo Bucharest
[Reuters]
BUCHAREST -- Romania champions Dinamo
Bucharest named Ion Moldovan on Monday as their replacement
coach for Cornel Dinu, who was sacked last week.
Moldovan is the fourth coach the club has had in the last
year. Dinu was sacked last Friday, just one month after he took
the coaching job from Florin Marin.
Marin had lasted just 29 days in the job, resigning for
personal reasons.
"The Dinamo Bucharest board decided to appoint Ion Moldovan
as new team's coach under a year contract," the club said in a
statement late on Monday. "The decision is with immediate
effect."
The club said the agreement could be extended by a further
year, subject to mutual agreement.
Dinamo lost 1-0 at home to Belgium's Club Bruges last week
for a 4-1 aggregate defeat in the second qualifying round of the
Champions League. Dinu was sacked two days later.
Moldovan, 46, had spent the last three years with the
Romanian Soccer Federation (FRF) coaching the Romania under-21
national team. He also helped Romania to the 2000 European
championships finals.
The Romanian league kicks off on August 17 with Dinamo
meeting Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt in the opening round.
Last season, the FRF accused Dinamo and Ceahlaul of fixing a
match and docked both sides three points but reversed its
decision three weeks later.
