Glen Tapia denied boxing license

Junior middleweight Glen Tapia was denied a boxing license on Friday by the New York State Athletic Commission, forcing his fight on the Gennady Golovkin-Daniel Geale undercard Saturday night at Madison Square Garden to be canceled minutes before the weigh-in.

The NYSAC said only that he was denied a license for medical reasons. However, Carl Moretti, vice president of Top Rank, which promotes Tapia, said the denial was because of an issue New York commission physician Dr. Barry Jordan ...
