Kim Clijsters alive in mixed doubles
NEW YORK -- Kim Clijsters' final tournament will last at least one more match, after she and mixed doubles partner Bob Bryan won in the first round of the U.S. Open on Friday.
Clijsters and Bryan beat young Americans Irina Falconi and Steve Johnson 6-2, 6-2. Afterward, Clijsters took part in the Bryan brothers' signature chest bump, then grinned widely.
They could have faced Mike Bryan in the second round, but he and Lisa Raymond, seeded second, were upset.
