Serena still great after all these years

NEW YORK -- Thirteen years ago, a 17-year-old from California blasted her way through this U.S. Open and beat fellow teenager Martina Hingis in straight sets.

She had fiery red fingernails, gold hoop earrings and a wild tangle of white and pink beads in her hair. Serena Williams became the fourth youngest champion here in the Open era.
