Jockey Mario Pino wins Woolf award

ARCADIA, Calif. -- Mario Pino has won the George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award in voting by his fellow riders.

He beat out finalists Javier Castellano, Perry Compton, David Flores and Rodney Prescott in the announcement Friday.

The award, established by Santa Anita in 1950, honors the careers and personal character of individuals involved in thoroughbred racing.
