Simon Yates wins points race

MINSK, Belarus --  Simon Yates won the last sprint to take the men's points race on Friday at the track cycling world championships for his first major title.

Jason Kenny took gold in the men's keirin final.

Katarzyna Pawlowska of Poland retained her title in the women's scratch race, winning ahead of Sofia Arreola Navarro of Mexico and Russia's Evgeniya Romanyuta.
