CAS clears cyclist of charges

BERLIN -- A cyclist who received UV blood treatment has been cleared of doping by the Court of Arbitration for Sport because the procedures took place before they were banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency on Jan. 1, 2011.

Germany's national anti-doping agency says CAS ruled that such treatments, where an athlete's blood is treated with ultraviolet light and then re-injected, did not constitute doping at the time if it did not lead to increased oxygen levels, which wasn't proven in the ...
