Paes, Stepanek win doubles title

NEW YORK -- Leander Paes won his eighth Grand Slam men's doubles title Sunday, teaming with Radek Stepanek to defeat Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares 6-1, 6-3 in the final of the US Open.

Paes, of India, and Stepanek, of the Czech Republic, knocked out the Bryan brothers in a three-set semifinal to deny the Americans the chance to become the first men's doubles team in 62 years to win all four majors in the same year.
