There are only two tables and 15 players remaining in the 2010 WSOP main event, and our November Nine will be reached soon enough. When the redraw occurred with 18 players left, a new feature table emerged with a stacked lineup of Scott Clements, Michael Mizrachi, Hasan Habib, Soi Nguyen, Matthew Jarvis, John Racener, Jason Senti, Brandon Steven and Benjamin Statz. Clements and Statz were eliminated quickly, securing their $500,165 paydays. At the other table, Jonathan Duhamel eliminated David Baker.
After dinner, Habib continued his short-stack play by doubling through Mizrachi, holding K-K to Mizrachi's A-8. A king flopped, and Habib, although still one of the shortest stacks, had a little more life left. With only six more eliminations to go, expect the field to continue to tighten up. That said, there are a number of short stacks who will need to pick a spot soon to look for a double-up. Given the other stack sizes, unless some major hands erupt among the chip leaders, they won't be able to just coast to the final table.
Here's a look at the top 10 immediately after the dinner break:
Matthew Jarvis (32.0 million in chips)
Jonathan Duhamel (29.1 million)
John Racener (21.0 million)
Filippo Candio (19.7 million)
Matt Affleck (19.4 million)
John Dolan (17.0 million)
Joseph Cheong (16.7 million)
Cuong "Soi" Nguyen (15.6 million)
Pascal LeFrancois (14.4 million)
Jason Senti (13.3 million)
The blinds have gone up to 120,000/240,000 with a 30,000 ante. Here's a look at the craziest hand I've witnessed in person given the circumstances:
