LONDON -- Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Kolo Toure blames his positive drug test on a diet supplement belonging to the player's wife.
The Manchester City defender was suspended Thursday by the Football Association after testing positive for an unidentified banned substance.
Wenger said Friday he had spoken to the former Arsenal center back and doesn't believe Toure took a performance-enhancing drug.
Wenger says Toure "wants to control his weight a little bit because that's where he has some problems. He took the product of his wife."
The French coach says the Ivory Coast player was simply "not cautious enough."
Toure was informed that he tested positive on Feb. 12.
