Rafael Nadal's uncle leaves Mallorca
MALLORCA, Spain -- The Spanish soccer club Mallorca says Rafael Nadal's uncle has left the team's coaching staff.
Miguel Angel Nadal is a former Spain and Barcelona defender who took charge of the team for one match after the stormy departure of Danish coach Michael Laudrup in September. Mallorca played to a 2-2 draw at Osasuna on Oct. 1.
Nadal's exit is not a surprise. His family announced it was leaving Mallorca's board after Laudrup's departure provoked a public rift among the club's directors.
The club says Nadal told Caparros, club president Jaume Cladera and vice president Llorenc Serra Ferrer of his decision Monday. Veteran coach Joaquin Caparros was put in charge of Mallorca full time last week.
