Liverpool's Lucas Leiva has torn ACL
LIVERPOOL, England -- Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during this week's League Cup quarterfinal win over Chelsea.
Lucas, a Brazilian national team player, was injured during a seemingly innocuous challenge in Tuesday's 2-0 victory. He played on for a couple of minutes before collapsing and getting carried off on a stretcher.
Liverpool says a scan showed Lucas needs surgery.
