Becky Sauerbrunn is perhaps best known for being the iron woman of Women's Professional Soccer, appearing in every minute of every match until being named to the 2011 World Cup squad. From 2009 to June of 2011, Sauerbrunn appeared in 49 straight matches, totaling 4410 minutes, not including two playoff games for her club Washington Freedom (then called magicJack). She missed her first match on June 6 to be with the U.S. women's national team and played eight minutes in the 1-0 win over Mexico to prepare for the World Cup. Following the World Cup, she helped lead the magicJack to the 2011 playoffs (but the league terminated the franchise after the season).

Sauerbrunn earned her first caps in 2008, but then was not called into camp again until an injury earned her a spot on the World Cup qualifying roster. She played in just one match in 2010, but played the full 90 in her first two matches after being named to the World Cup team.

Sauerbrunn is from St. Louis, Mo., and played her college soccer at Virginia, where, like with her club team, she played in every match and only missed ten minutes during her collegiate career.
