Rachel Buehler

Rachel Buehler led the U.S. women's national team in minutes played with 1,474 in 17 games in 2010 and was named co-captain (along with Christie Rampone) in July of the same year. She played mostly in the center back spot, but has also seen time in the left back position. A graduate of Stanford University, she captained the Cardinal for the final three years of her college career. Buehler currently joined the Boston Breakers of Women's Professional Soccer in 2011 after spending her first two seasons in the league with FC Gold Pride. She won the WPS championship with FC Gold Pride in 2010 and was named to the WPS All-Star team.

Buehler made her debut for the full national team on March 5, 2008 vs. China and earned a spot on the Olympic roster that summer. She played in two matches in the tournament, starting one, as the United States won the gold medal.

She became a regular starter for the U.S. at the 2011 World Cup, and scored in her country's opener against North Korea. She contributed to two clean sheets for the Americans in group play, before receiving a red card in the quarterfinals against Brazil. She missed the semis due to the suspension but returned to start in the final, when Japan topped the U.S. in a penalty shootout to win its first title.
