Pennetta, Dominguez Lino knocked out

BOGOTA -- Top-seeded Flavia Pennetta was ousted by Masa Zec Peskiric 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (4) in the first round of the Copa Colsanitas on Tuesday.

Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain, the eighth seed and 2006 champion, and last year's runner-up Maria Emilia Salerni of Argentina were also eliminated in the first round.

Nuria Llagostera Vives of Spain, who won last year's title as a qualifier, won her opener as the fourth seed.

Pennetta, who won here in 2005 and is now ranked 15th in the world, and Peskiric, No. 137, grinded through their match for nearly 2½ hours. They broke each other five times each, with the Italian Pennetta committing 10 double faults and Peskiric 11.

Dominguez Lino lost to Ioana Raluca Olaru of Romania 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (3).

Salerni, who received a wild card, fell in three sets to Maret Ani of Estonia, while Colombian singles hopes ended with in the first round with the departures of Catalina Castano, Mariana Duque Marino and Viky Nunez Fuentes.

The remaining seeds advanced, including No. 2 Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain, No. 3 Gisela Dulko of Argentina, No. 6 Mathilde Johansson of France, and No. 7 Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain.
